In 2017 we were lucky enough to see the revival of Yukio Ninagawa's stunning 'Macbeth' at the Barbican.
Entirely in Japanese (with surtitles) it combined ultimate precision with amazing passion, violent action with glorious movement and designs of surpassing beauty. The result was a tale told with force, elegance and timeless control as the samurai Macbeth and his cello-playing wife went to their doom courtesy of the kabuki Weird Sisters.
